Well, I’m sure we could all argue that almost every hypo is inappropriate, but there are some which are more inappropriate or inconvenient than others.

Earlier in the week I was at the hospital, clothes around ears, belly out, gel all over it, having a scan for my baby. The room was nice and warm then gradually felt a bit too hot and I was left wondering “am I low or is it just hot in here”? After deliberating for about five minutes I asked my husband to fish in my bag for my BG tester for me, so next thing you know I’ve got a woman standing over me rubbing an electronic device over my gel-ly belly and someone else pricking my finger and taking my glucose for me… what a palaver! Sure enough I was 2.8 and had to start furiously munching on glucose tablets.

Other inappropriate lows of late have been part way through a root canal procedure,( just waited that one out, for better or worse), at the start of a yoga class (you’re not supposed to eat or drink for a couple of hours before, let alone actually IN the class) and at the movies (cue testing in the dark and loud rustling in my bag for glucose tablets.

All in a day’s work for us T1s eh? Got any good stories yourselves? I liked Sara-M’s one about the wedding a while back, and my  other friend was getting a buggy demonstration in a posh Auckland baby shop recently and almost flaked out, which was slightly better than when she actually keeled over in the supermarket and almost vomited.
