I’ve had one of those impossible diabetes days today. Started off ok after getting up at 2am, testing BG and taking a bit more insulin…. so I woke up at a 5.8 (this is AMAZING for me). Then – shower and site change. This is pretty much where it all started to fall apart.

First meeting from 8:30 – 9:15. Cab to my client. Second meeting 9:30 – 10:30. Get back to office. Check BG. 20.1 – gaaaahhhh! Waste no time in grabbing an insulin pen and correcting. BGs start to head in right direction. Back to an ok level by 1pm so have some lunch. Off to client for 2:30pm meeting. It’s a meeting with about 12 people on…

One of our blog readers, Kris mentioned something really interesting in her reply to my post Sweden leads charge on type 1 vaccinations.

I’m just repeating what she said for your benefit: in NZ you can go to the Liggins Institute and get a blood test done which will be sent off to the States to be processed through TrialNet.

By measuring different biomarkers in blood samples, it is possible to determine in an early stage that these children are in the autoimmune disease process that destroys their insulin producing cells. If vaccination with Diamyd(r) succeeds to intervene in the disease process before too many of the insulin cells are destroyed, the disease will…
