PopsicleI’ve had this discussion with Aaron before so I know I’m not alone in this. Have you ever had a hypo and thought “hmmm – I could eat boring old glucose tablets/sugar/normal stuff I have in the house, but if I hoofed it to the dairy now I could have something YUMMY” (Sara-M I’m reckoning you might be a candidate for this).

I found myself in this position the other day in fact. Was doing my usual walk with the baby in the buggy, and got to the turnaround point, and discovered I was a 3.2 (despite taking my pump off an HOUR before the walk, grrr). I’d walked past the dairy on my way there, and then shortly after had seen a wrapper for a cola popsicle on the footpath, and had been thinking how yummy that would be.  So when I found I was low, I had a couple of glucose tablets and headed back towards the dairy to top up the sugar levels with said ice block. However, as Aaron said in his post yesterday, unfortunately popsicles aren’t nearly as sugary as they seem. By the time I got home I was in the low 2s and had to scoff loads more sugar, almost definitely undoing any good the walk may have done.

I might have to start a campaign for a diet coke ice block – would anyone else be keen on this? I’ve tried to make home-made ones (even with Soda Stream liquid mixed with water) but they just end up way too icy. Maybe I’ll start a Facebook group :)
