New week, new month, new season!

Pardon my absence for the last  couple of weeks – I’ve been a bit crook and have been coming home from work completely knackered and quite incapable of doing much other than going straight to bed! Nic has been cranking out some awesome content though so I’m sure that you have hardly noticed

Having been sick, the last couple of weeks have been a struggle in terms of BGs and not just fatigue with, unsurprisingly, lots of fluctuations and heaps of hypos and highs as I’ve been trying to get the levels back under control. Hi all

Thanks to Lucy for sending me a couple of links on this stuff. Basically the subject I wanted to discuss today was diabetes complications, and your experience with them and possibly advice you have or advice which has been given to you on how to possibly prevent them. I know that having been a T1 for 15 years (and pretty wildly uncontrolled for about 60% of that time) as well as going through a pregnancy with T1, I am starting to head into the danger zone a bit with complications. And I know friends who are of similar ages and diabetes career lengths who have started to get minor complications. So it’s something I want to get familiar…

Well, I’ve ‘heard’ it all now (excuse the pun). Definitely not one of the ‘poster’ side effects of diabetes, but apparently the American Diabetes Association now has proof that hearing loss is one of the knock ons from poor glycaemic control. Boooooo.

I have to say that if I start going deaf I’m definitely going to blame all the time I spent working in bars and clubs (and frequenting them) in my 20s, and not some lame medical excuse. Viva la rock n roll.

I just had to write this post in my lunch break because it’s been distracting me from my work all morning.
