I was reading Nic’s post this weekend called ‘Devil in the Pantry‘ about trying to resist the temptation of eating the jar of Nutella and it got me thinking about what, out of all things that sit in my pantry from time to time I have absolutely no self control over. That is, if it’s there, it’s gone regardless of how much insulin I have to pump in.

This may seem strange but for me the list is…ahem:

Ice-cream cones
Caramello chocolate
Turkish delight
Lemon flavoured glucodin tablets
Rasberry licorice – yum

There are a couple of others on this list of mine too I have to admit but what about you guys?

I saw this news come across the wire yesterday from TuDiabetes.

The kit sounds really useful, here is the outline of it:

Tomorrow, the 13th February, is my diabetes’ 19th birthday!

There won’t be too big a celebration because we’ll be at a wedding in Manukau but I will quietly have a large coke, some lollies, an ice cream, several beers, some bacon with cheese and a great big dose of insulin to celebrate!

O.K., maybe not but I will take a moment to reflect on the fact that 19 years ago as a 8 year old I was told by a doctor that I would “have to have multiple injections every day for the rest of my life” (my parent’s weren’t there either).  I also remember my exact response too – “Oh well“.
